This Andhra Pradesh Man’s Coin Collection Consists Of Currencies Dating 2500 BC

The current currency, which is circulating in the economy, is known to almost everyone. The notes were non-existent during the reign of the kings. In fact, did you know that the one rupee note was introduced on November 30, 1917? Well, before the notes, coins were prevalent and that too gold and silver-made ones. Rajesh from Andhra Pradesh’s Palakollu has a hobby of collecting ancient coins. In Andhra Pradesh’s Palakollu, Rajesh has been collecting gold coins since 1986. The oldest of his coins dates back to 2,500 BC, from the times of ancient kings and rules. He has coins belonging to the rules of Chola, Vidarbha and Vijayanagara Kings and the rules of Sri Krishnadevaraya, Harihara Raya and Bukka Raya. He shared that he also has 30 foreign coins and is quite keen on explaining the details to everyone who shows interest. He loves to educate people about both domestic and foreign currencies.

In an interview with local18, Rajesh expressed his interest in ancient coin collection. He shared that he travels across the state to find such priceless coins and then he purchases them. Interestingly, he has never acquired any property. He believes that his ancient gold coins are his only assets and takes great care of them.

Just like heirlooms, he wants to pass these coins down to future generations in the family. He wants to make sure that they know of the history of their country and with the help of his coin collection, he will be able to educate them of the historical significance of these currencies even in his absence.

Rajesh has already made attempts to educate millions of people by showing them these ancient coins and explaining their historical value and importance. He believes that the current generation is unaware of the ancient gold coins from the times of the kings and rules. In the near future, he plans to organise an exhibition throughout the state.
