US election latest: Harris says Trump ‘increasingly unstable and unhinged’ – as both candidates hold events in key state | US News
Kamala Harris has taken to the stage at her rally in Erie, Pennsylvania, walking on as usual to Beyonce’s Freedom.
Crowds chant “Kamala, Kamala, Kamala”, as she steps to the microphone.
“We are nearing the home stretch”, she tells the crowd, adding that it is “going to be a tight race to the very end”.
“We are running like the underdog, we have some hard work ahead of us,” she says, but adds confidently: “In 22 days we will win.”
The Democratic Party will bring down the cost of everything “from medical care to groceries”, she vows.
Trump ‘increasingly unstable’
On her opponent, Ms Harris says Donald Trump has “no plans for how he will address the needs of American families”.
She describes him as an “unserious man”, but says the consequences of him winning the election would be “brutally serious”.
“This is not 2016 or 2020, the stakes are even higher,” she says.
Ms Harris shows footage of Mr Trump making ominous statements about his political adversaries as “the enemy from within”.
“He’s talking about… that he considers anyone who does not support him or who will not bend to his will an enemy of our country,” she says.
“This is among the reasons I feel so strongly that a second Trump term would be a huge risk for America and dangerous.”
“Donald Trump is increasingly unstable and unhinged,” says Ms Harris, adding that he is “out for unchecked power”.
Ms Harris finishes her speech by reminding the crowd that the way people from Erie vote “often predicts the national vote”, and urges them to head to the polls on 5 November.
