Nifty falls for sixth straight day, Sensex snaps five day losing streak


Sensex Today | Stock Market Highlights: The Nifty closed lower for the sixth consecutive day, slipping six points to settle at 22,548. The Sensex, however, managed to snap its five-day losing streak, rising 148 points to close at 74,602 in a rangebound session.

The broader market struggled, with the Nifty Midcap index extending losses for the third straight session, falling 311 points to 49,702. Weakness in PB Fintech and Delhivery dragged the index lower. Meanwhile, the Nifty Bank index also ended in the red, declining 44 points to 48,608.

IT and metal stocks remained under pressure as investors tracked developments in US tariff discussions, keeping sentiment subdued. Among gainers, Mahindra & Mahindra extended its uptrend for the second consecutive session, emerging as the top Nifty performer with gains of over 2%. Bharti Airtel also rose more than 2%, buoyed by a positive brokerage note and its partnership with Ericsson for 5G core technology.
