Historic 1903 farmhouse in Newberry lists for $2.288 million | Columbia Business

It was built in 1903, and still features some original elements like its heart-of-pine floors and tongue-and-groove ceilings. Now, the historic farmhouse and the expansive property that surrounds it also has a list price — $2.288 million.

That’s the price for Martin Farm, a 181-acre property in the Midlands town of Newberry with an expanded five-bedroom home as its centerpiece. The property located at 8660 S.C. Highway 395, roughly 40 miles northwest of Columbia, is also equestrian-ready with fenced pastures and a barn with a hayloft, according to the listing from Herlong Sotheby’s International Realty.

The main level of the farmhouse includes a grand foyer, spacious dining room, parlor, family room and primary suite, while upstairs has four additional bedrooms, according to the listing. A sunroom, two-bedroom apartment with a private entrance, and three-car garage were added in 2005. The home now measures at 6,429 square feet.

The property includes roughly five acres of pasture, 3,500 feet of frontage along Scott Creek, 40 acres of mixed hardwood, 20 acres of mature loblolly pine, and around 80 acres of younger pine trees. The diversity of the landscape provides a wildlife habitat for white tail deer and wild turkey. The barn will require some structural updates, the listing says.

Jeffrey Inman and Pat McNamara of Herlong Sotheby’s International Realty are the listing agents on the property.
