Rabat — Morocco and Egypt are taking bold steps towards boosting their bilateral trade and economic cooperation. In preparation for an upcoming Moroccan economic mission to Cairo, the co-presidents of the Morocco-Egypt Business Council held a working session on Friday with the Egyptian Ambassador to Morocco.
The meeting focused on strengthening bilateral commercial ties between the two North African countries through strategic partnerships in key economic sectors.
Ali Tazi and Nezar Ismaïl, who head the Business Council jointly established by the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Egyptian Industrialists Association, met with Ambassador Ahmed Nihad Abdellatif to finalize details for the business delegation scheduled for May 3-5, 2025.
During the session, both co-presidents stressed the council’s strategic importance in revitalizing economic and commercial relations between Morocco and Egypt.
They spoke of the need to leverage complementary strengths between the private sectors of both countries to build “solid, sustainable, and balanced partnerships.”
The discussions laid the foundation for a potential common roadmap focused on promoting cross-investments in several priority sectors, including agri-food, automotive, plastics manufacturing, textiles, and distribution.
Both parties also renewed their commitment to supporting businesses in their development efforts and facilitating exchanges between the Moroccan and Egyptian economic ecosystems.

The upcoming economic mission is set to be led by Omar Hejira, Secretary of State for Foreign Trade, and organized in coordination with CGEM. It aims to strengthen the presence of Moroccan products in the Egyptian market.
A key point of the mission will be a Morocco-Egypt business forum bringing together Moroccan exporters and Egyptian importers from various sectors to stimulate bilateral trade and open new avenues for cooperation.
This initiative comes at a time when both countries are looking to expand their economic horizons within Africa and the Middle East, capitalizing on their strategic positions as gateways to their respective regions.
In early March, Morocco and Egypt pledged to foster bilateral trade relations through the creation of an Egyptian “Fast Track” system, designed to streamline access for Moroccan exports into Egyptian markets.
