A British estate has been likened to a “slum” in the “third world” after a rise in crime left residents fearing they would be “murdered“.

Meath Court in west London has a concerning crime level and has been referenced as the “worst place to live in Britain”. Labour-led Ealing Council is set on rehoming residents but have warned it will take months to do so. Residents now left at the rabble of properties are worried for their lives.

One believed they “will die here” and said their major worry living in Meath Court is for whether they will be killed, along with their children. The estate is built up of 60 shipping containers housing hundreds of members of the public.

The unnamed resident said: “I fear I will die here. This is the worst place to live in Britain. It’s like being in a third-world country. I am terrified I will be killed or my children will be killed.” Serious crimes in the area are worryingly rampant, with attempted murders, sexual assaults, drug dealing, thefts, robberies and violence all reported. Those in the area are living in squalid conditions, with some living in single rooms measuring two metres wide by five metres long, the Daily Star reported.

Irene Parker, 41, fears she will die on the estate also and slammed the homes as the worst place to live in Britain. She said: “I fear I will die here. This is the worst place to live in Britain. I have depression and my doctor said it is because of my living conditions. That is clinical depression.

“It’s like being in a third-world country. I am terrified I will be killed or my children will be killed. This is a hellhole. It is disgusting. It is a third-world cesspit. There are prostitutes and pimps everywhere. People openly have sex. There are crack addicts everywhere.”

Meath Court’s horrendous conditions are just a short walk away from houses valued at seven figures or higher. Mellisa Rowland, 42, has since warned she worries for her children due to the rising crime rates. She said: “It’s worse than the wild west. It’s lawless. The police do not care. It’s slum housing.

“There has been attempted rapes here, sexual assaults, drug dealing every day. Terrifying levels of violence, I have witnessed severe beatings. The houses are so cramped. It’s five or six people living in a home fit for two. I have three children in one tiny bedroom. It’s is truly awful. I hate my life.”
