Lewis Capaldi’s stunning property portfolio after moving out of humble family home

LEWIS Capaldi is one of the most down to earth superstars on the planet – a big reason he has millions of adoring fans.

With a string of number one albums under his belt as well as countless sold out tours, the Someone You Loved singer isn’t known for flaunting his considerable wealth.

Instead he’s cashed in on his success and spent wisely, buying two homes to begin a plush property portfolio.

The Scots musician, 29, from Whitburn, West Lothian, purchased his first pad in 2020.

It was a £1.6million luxury home complete with its own island around 30 miles from his mum and dad’s place in Bathgate.

Incredibly, it was his pop star pal Ed Sheeran, 34, who encouraged him to buy the luxury gaff.

The Shape of You singer said: “Lewis goes, I’m looking to find a house and I was like, oh cool.

“I go on Rightmove and typed in Glasgow and within ten miles and I just sent him one and go ‘how about this?’

“And was like ‘yeah, yeah, cool’. And he just bought it and moved in.”

However, Lewis later dubbed the property a “f***ing s***hole” and jokingly blamed Sheeran for the many issues it had.

Earlier this year he got the go-ahead for a recording studio at his £1.6million Scottish farmhouse.

The rural retreat already boasts a swimming pool, sauna, spa, cinema and triple garage for his collection of motors.

The studio will feature two balconies, two bookcases, a sliding music equipment storage trolley, a toilet, kitchen sink and tea preparation area.

Planners at the council gave the superstar, 28, the go-ahead after there were no objections from neighbours.

In 2021 he was also given the green light for a rear swimming pool extension with a sauna and spa to boot.

But it wasn’t as simple when he tried to beef up his privacy with a 6ft-high wooden barrier around the grounds of his farmhouse.

Resident Adam Dunwoodie objected to the star’s planning application claiming an existing fence has already had a “significant adverse impact” on his home life.

He said he understands Lewis’s “desire for security and privacy” but argued the height of the proposed partition would be “oppressive”.

It’s not yet known if the fence will be built.

Capaldi also splashed out on a flashy £500,000 apartment in the west end of Glasgow in 2021.

The three-bedroom flat is within walking distance of a variety of shops, pubs and restaurants in the bustling west end.

But the crown jewel in his property portfolio is a £3million mansion.

In 2024, he bought a Hampstead home in the exclusive north London area that’s popular with celebrities.

One of his neighbours is One Direction favourite Harry Styles, 31, and he’s also near telly presenter couple Cat Deeley Patrick Kielty.

It’s a far cry from his humble beginnings.

The family home, where Capaldi wrote many of his hit songs, was sold for close to £400,000 two years ago.

His Netflix documentary, Lewis Capaldi: How I’m Feeling Now, featured the property as viewers met his nurse mum Carol and fishmonger dad Mark.

Capaldi joked: “There’s nothing further from the Grammys than Whitburn.”

When the house in West Lothian was listed in 2021, the estate agent listing described it as “an exceptional and individually built family home”.
