The account allows Kenyans to invest directly in US dollar–denominated assets and other global opportunities as demand for international diversification continues to rise in the country.
The bank said the move is driven by growing client appetite for safer, stable, and globally diversified investments.
The new account gives customers access to professionally managed global products, currency hedging benefits, and expanded wealth-building avenues beyond the domestic market.
Rising need for diversification
NCBA Investment Bank Managing Director Muathi Kilonzo said the institution is leveraging its global network and technical capacity to offer offshore options that meet stringent international standards while protecting investor capital.
“We’re utilising our global presence, market knowledge and expertise to create a solid offshore investment setup that truly connects with our clients’ needs, helping them invest their capital safely while aiming for reliable returns,” he said.
The launch comes as Kenya’s wealthy population grows, with the Africa Wealth Report 2025 ranking the country fifth on the continent and placing the number of high-net-worth individuals at 6,800.
NCBA believes this expanding segment, coupled with Nairobi’s push to strengthen its position as a regional financial hub, is driving strong demand for offshore diversification.
The new offering bundles multiple global investment pathways into a single platform.
Clients will be able to access US dollar pooled investment funds such as the NCBA Global Fixed Income Special Fund and the NCBA Global Equity Special Fund.
Notably, the NCBA Investment Bank’s Global Equity Special Fund has achieved a strong 20.0% return since inception, driven largely by the outstanding performance of Chinese equities, which delivered an impressive 40.52% and significantly outpaced all other regions.
Global investment solutions
The account will also provide execution and custody services for self-directed investors and bespoke segregated portfolios for ultra-high-net-worth clients, family offices, and institutions seeking exposure to international equities, global bonds, and other specialised offshore assets.
NCBA said the account also targets corporate clients participating in international trade and diaspora investors who earn in foreign currencies and want instruments aligned to their global income streams.
The bank introduced the product during the 5th Annual Abojani Economic Forum, an event that convened young professionals, SMEs and investment-savvy Kenyans seeking practical financial planning and wealth-creation insights.
NCBA, a key sponsor of the forum, said the platform was ideal for unveiling a solution designed to give Kenyan investors easier access to global markets.
