$271 Million Mansion Could Become America’s Most Expensive Home

An 8-acre waterfront spread in Florida has set its sights on becoming America’s most expensive home after returning to the market for $271 million—a $61 million increase on the asking price it was last listed for in June 2025.

If—and it is a rather large if—the expansive Naples dwelling is able to find a buyer willing to splash out that much cash for the privilege of owning “the most unique, exceptional offering in Florida,” the sprawling 22,800-square-foot property would shoot to the top of the list of the most expensive homes ever sold in the U.S., a list that is currently topped by billionaire Ken Griffin‘s New York City penthouse.

Griffin smashed the record when he forked over $239.96 million for his Manhattan property in 2019—and he has held on to it ever since, although he faced competition in April 2025 when another Naples dwelling was purchased for $225 million.

The latest Naples dwelling vying for the title is known as Gordon Pointe and is located in the exclusive Port Royal enclave, offering views of Naples Bay and the Gulf of Mexico. And while it has yet to achieve the title of most expensive home sold, it has shot to the top of the week’s most expensive homes list.

The expansive lot boasts three residences, 722 feet of private beach, a protected harbor, a deep-water yacht basin, and a floating T-shaped dock.

According to The Wall Street Journal, the property last traded hands for $979,930 in 2006 when it was purchased by financier John Donahue, who eventually acquired several more acres and built the family compound there.

It originally hit the market in 2024 for an astonishing $295 million when it became the country’s most expensive listing.

More jaw-dropping estates to make the week’s most expensive homes list include a 517-acre Texas ranch with private runway, an oceanfront Hamptons mansion, and a to-be-built legacy compound with golf course views in Jupiter, FL.
