
Residents in a Nottinghamshire town have been told to keep their windows and doors closed as several fire crews tackle a blaze at a commercial property.
Firefighters are at the scene of a fire in Hospital Road, Retford, as of 9pm on April 27 and have urged residents in the area to stay away.
Seven fire engines, an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier and a command support vehicle are in attendance alongside several ambulances and at least two marked police cars.
Crews from Retford, Mansfield, Worksop, Tuxford, Edwinstowe and Carlton fire stations are in attendance.
Nottinghamshire Fire & Rescue Service issued a statement after receiving a high number of calls about the blaze.
A statement said: “Our control room is currently receiving a high volume of calls regarding a fire at a commercial property on Hospital Road in Retford.
“Please avoid the area if possible, and we ask local residents to keep their doors and windows closed if they are affected by the smoke.
“Crews from Retford Fire Station, Mansfield Fire Station, Worksop Fire Station, Tuxford Fire Station, Edwinstowe Fire Station and Carlton Fire Station are in attendance.”
