GTA VI Price Concerns Grow as PS Store Shifts

Physical Retail Could Give GTA VI Buyers More Options

Retail stores could gain an advantage if digital prices become less competitive. Unlike the PlayStation Store, multiple retailers can compete through discounts and pre-order offers. Boxed GTA VI copies have already received price reductions in France.

Rockstar is also using a code-in-box format for some GTA VI editions. Buyers would still download the game, but purchasing through retailers could provide more pricing options than buying directly from Sony.

The change follows calls for better regional pricing in Latin America. PlayStation Store prices in some markets have historically been listed in USD. Steam, by comparison, offers regional pricing that can better reflect local purchasing power. Sony has also tested personalized discounts, though they are not available to everyone.

PlayStation-focused X account @NotiPlay_ reported that Store maintenance will begin two days before the change. It also reported that promotions will remain unavailable until Sep 23, and USD gift cards will stay valid. PS3 Store access will end in the three markets after maintenance.
