Mint Property Finance has launched the Mint First Time Developers Academy, a programme aimed at supporting people looking to become property developers.
The academy was launched by Sam Herd, head of credit at Mint Property Finance, to help more small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) developers enter the market as part of the drive to deliver 1.5 million new homes.
Herd noted that first-time developers often need more than just funding, as many lack the practical understanding of lender expectations, how development finance works and how to prepare a strong application.
The academy aims to close this gap by giving members access to practical educational resources, training articles, monthly updates, weekly tips on social media, online sessions with case studies, and networking events.
The content is based on the experience of Mint’s development finance team, underwriters and portfolio managers, sharing lessons from supporting projects from start to finish.
Herd said: “Every experienced developer once submitted their first development finance application.
“We believe specialist lenders have an opportunity not only to fund the next generation of developers, but to help create them.
“By combining education with practical insight and funding expertise, we’re giving aspiring developers the confidence to take that first step.”
