Stock Market Highlights Today: Sensex closes over 300 points down, Nifty ends below 24,100 points

Indian markets are likely to take cues from Q1 FY27 GDP data due on August 31, crude oil prices and the US August non-farm payrolls report due on September 4. Investors will also track domestic PMI readings, GST collections, forex reserves, the rupee, auto sales and foreign investor flows.

The US jobs report could be particularly important for expectations around the Federal Reserve’s September rate decision, as hawkish comments from Fed Chair Kevin Warsh have already increased rate-hike bets and pushed up Treasury yields.

India’s growth data will offer clues on the strength of the domestic economy amid elevated energy prices and the unresolved Middle East conflict. FPIs have invested Rs 30,919 crore in Indian equities in August, extending their buying streak to a second month.

The Sensex fell 276.32 points, or 0.35%, last week, while the Nifty declined 76.35 points, or 0.31%.
