According to the latest Zoopla House Price Index, published on 27 August 2026, the North West has emerged as England’s strongest regional market for house price growth, providing an encouraging backdrop for property investors as autumn activity begins to build.
While national price inflation has softened, the North West region’s relative affordability, ongoing demand, and resilient local markets continue to distinguish it from many parts of southern England.
Zoopla’s latest House Price Index shows that average UK house prices rose by 0.9% in the year to July 2026, down from 1.3% the previous month. The average UK home is now valued at £272,800, with prices flat between June and July.
However, the national headline masks a clear regional divide. House prices in the North West increased by 3.1% year on year, which was the fastest rate of growth of any English region. By contrast, average prices were 1% lower than a year earlier in London and 0.3% lower in the South East.
