THE British Chamber of Commerce Philippines (BCCP) will host its upcoming executive forum, “Trade & Connect: The Philippine Clean Energy Future: Resilience, Innovation and Investment,” aimed at accelerating green growth and strengthening national energy security.
The event will be at Colliers Head Office, Makati City on Sept. 29, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As the Philippines pursues its targets to source 35 percent of power generation from renewables by 2030 and 50 percent by 2040 with capacity projected to reach 14.45 GW this year, regional energy integration will take center stage.
Through its Asean Chairship, the country is championing the Asean Power Grid (APG) as a key Priority Economic Deliverable under the Asean Plan of Action for Energy Cooperation. Advancing cross-border power connectivity and power-sharing frameworks is vital for strengthening Southeast Asia’s collective energy security against global geopolitical shocks. To support this transition, the country is aggressively attracting greener Foreign Direct Investment, bolstered by policy reforms allowing 100 percent foreign ownership in solar, wind, hydro, and ocean energy.
Parallel to grid expansion, discussions will focus on how artificial intelligence and digitalization can optimize grid reliability, manage surge demand, and accelerate renewable integration. A cornerstone of this strategy is the flagship 4,000-acre AI-native industrial acceleration hub in New Clark City under the “Pax Silica” framework, which integrates AI infrastructure, semiconductor processing, and green manufacturing.
The Trade & Connect forum will explore regulatory frameworks, renewable energy developments, and key investment avenues to foster stronger UK-Philippines cooperation in the green energy sector.
