Achieving millionaire status is the dream of many Americans. It may seem impossible to build such wealth, especially during challenging economic times. However, it’s important to remember that wealth creation rarely happens overnight. Building wealth is best thought of as a marathon, not a sprint. Thankfully, you don’t typically need substantial means to begin increasing your net worth.
For example, using your employer-sponsored 401(k) is a good way to build wealth. Funds come out of your paycheck, and your employer often matches a certain percentage, allowing more money to enter the market. If you have the means and can identify opportunities, investing in initial public offerings, or IPOs, can be another legitimate way to build wealth.
It’s important to keep in mind that IPOs carry risks beyond traditional stock market investing. Roughly 46% of U.S.-based IPOs experience first-day gains, according to Ernst & Young. That leaves more than half declining on their first day, and not all ultimately succeed. For those with a high risk tolerance and the ability to invest in IPOs, it may be possible to turn that risk into wealth. And you don’t always need substantial funds to purchase investments near their market debut.
A recent study by trading platform Taurex identified the 10 fastest investments to reach at least $1 million with minimal starting resources, based on start price, start date, June 2025 price and required initial investment. Not all of the investments are stocks, either — the platform also included cryptocurrency in its analysis.
