Where Does Cristiano Ronaldo Live? The World’s Highest-Paid Athlete Owns Property in Multiple Countries

Ronaldo bought his first home in England for around $5.3 million a couple of years after he signed with elite soccer club Manchester United in 2003. Located 15 miles from Manchester in Alderley Edge, a posh village known to attract deep-pocketed homebuyers and famous soccer players (David and Victoria Beckham lived there from 2001 to 2005), the three-story, red-brick, contemporary-style new build had five bedrooms, an indoor pool, a steam room, theater room, and a gym at the time of the star player’s tenure. There are conflicting reports about the exact year Ronaldo bought the property, but title documents place the purchase in 2007. Attempts to find a buyer for the manse failed in 2009, when the in-demand player transferred to Spanish team Real Madrid; it was instead rented out, most notably to Man U player Luke Shaw in 2014 for $11,500 a month. Ronaldo was finally able to sell the house in 2019, but at an over $800,000 loss.

Spanish home base

In 2009, Ronaldo jumped ship from Manchester United to Spanish club Real Madrid and stayed there until 2018. During that time, the father of five bought an 8,600-square-foot mansion in La Finca, one of Madrid’s most prestigious gated neighborhoods, where fellow footballers Kylian Mbappé and Jude Bellingham have reportedly also resided. Designed by Spanish architect Joaquín Torres, the house has seven bedrooms and eight bathrooms. There’s also a spa, a cryochamber, an indoor pool, and a private soccer field. Ronaldo’s initials are carved into the front door’s sleek silver-metal detailing.

In 2015, Ronaldo shared a video tour of the home. “I spend nearly half a day here,” he said while showing off his bed, “because to perform good and be at a good level you have to rest good.” An aquarium and a robust walk-in closet can also be seen in the sprawling primary suite before the athlete moves on to show off his TV room and black lacquered dining table where, he says, he eats most of his meals, prepared by his private chefs.

Ronaldo reportedly still owns this property. According to Robb Report, he offered it up for rent in 2023 for $11,000 a month.

Spa-town manse

Nature-loving Ronaldo once owned a riverside mansion tucked away in the northern mountains of Portugal’s Gerês, a region that is home to historic spas and a national park. After landing in trouble for building a tennis court and two annexes that were deemed illegal on the property, Ronaldo tore down the structures and donated the used materials to those in need. Reports are that he eventually sold the property to Pepe, a former Real Madrid teammate, but property documents still show Ronaldo as the owner.
