Yves Saint Laurent Beauty opened its first physical store in Brazil in August. Located in the Mata São Paulo complex in the country’s economic capital, the boutique is also the brand’s first in South America. “Brazil is the second Latin American market to welcome a YSL Beauty store, after Mexico. This choice reflects the country’s potential and reinforces its place in the brand’s global strategy,” explains Priscila Chagas, Brand Director at L’Oréal Group Brazil.
Despite the growth of online shopping, nearly 60% of Brazilian consumers still view physical stores as places to discover products and build relationships, according to research firm Serasa Experian. “Circana’s data in the United States also points to renewed interest in physical stores among younger consumers,” Chagas notes.
The new boutique will offer YSL Beauty’s entire makeup and fragrance portfolio available in Brazil. It will also be the country’s only physical point of sale for Le Vestiaire des Parfums, the brand’s premium fragrance collection. “Brazil has a particularly strong cultural connection to perfumery. We are the world’s second-largest perfume market, and for Brazilian consumers, fragrance can evoke memories and express identity and individuality,” Chagas adds.
According to the brand director, the boutique is designed to provide a seamless, immersive experience, allowing customers to explore the brand’s fragrances, textures and beauty codes with guidance from a team of beauty advisors.
Luxury beauty experience
“The boutique also elevates the luxury experience offered by YSL Beauty. We provide personalized services such as Shade Match, which uses digital skin analysis to identify the most suitable shade and undertone and recommend the best products. Our ambition is to make the boutique a benchmark for luxury beauty experiences in Latin America,” Chagas says.
According to the brand director, the opening marks a significant milestone in YSL Beauty’s development strategy in Brazil, which has gained momentum since the launch of its e-commerce platform in 2024. In 2025, the brand rolled out major marketing campaigns, Love Game and Block Party, in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. In August 2026, it also made its debut on TikTok Shop in Brazil.
“For a luxury brand, being present on this social commerce channel means creating a discovery experience that reflects how consumers engage with beauty, culture and content today. Luxury consumers no longer separate entertainment, discovery and purchasing. This approach guides our presence on TikTok Shop, while preserving the sophistication and desirability that define the brand.”
A diversified customer journey
For Priscila Chagas, each of these initiatives has helped bring YSL Beauty closer to Brazilian consumers. “We see these developments as complementary parts of the customer journey: e-commerce offers convenience and access to our full product range; TikTok Shop allows us to adapt to new purchasing behaviors; activations connect us with culture and entertainment; and the boutique provides a sensory experience and direct interaction with customers.”
According to YSL Beauty’s director in Brazil, the priority now is to consolidate the brand’s presence across the country’s various channels. “Brazil is currently the world’s third-largest cosmetics market, which has strongly shaped our strategy.”
