Permission granted for 330 new homes in Bedfordshire

Wates Manor Oak has secured a resolution to grant planning permission for 330 new homes on land off Salph End, Bedford, Bedfordshire.

The plans propose that 30 per cent of the site – up to 99 dwellings –will be delivered as affordable homes, helping to meet the local need for more housing.

The development will include a mix of family houses, including 1,2,3 and 4 bedrooms, providing home buyers the opportunity to choose from larger family homes to smaller properties for first-time buyers. Up to 20 per cent of the homes on the site will be bungalows.

The plans include public open space, footpath improvements and new vehicle access points all included within the proposals.

Earlier this year, Wates Land & Development division, part of the Wates Group, announced the acquisition of Manor Oak Homes, the Midlands-based land promoter. The team now goes by Wates Manor Oak, led by Will Main.

Will Main, founder and manager director at Wates Manor Oak said: “Driven by our purpose of reimagining places for people to thrive, the proposals in Bedfordshire are well positioned to bring together new, affordable homes alongside the creation of a sustainable community.

“We now look forward to engaging with relevant local stakeholders to bring the site to life and help to provide much needed housing.”
