According to Senator Mike Rounds, blockchain is crucial in keeping U.S. an international currency power

RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) – Last week Senator Mike Rounds met with the South Dakota Blockchain Institute to discuss the role AI and cryptocurrency will have in different industries.

Rounds mentioned some have already seen the effects AI has had on healthcare industries with new technology being developed to help patients worldwide. The most important takeaway from his conversation was the role of blockchain in establishing the U.S. as a world power.

He said the interest the U.S. has in blockchain is important because it will help establish the U.S. dollar as the standard in worldwide trade.

”If you have someone else like someone in Europe, if they ant their sovereign, their version of the dollar or pound to be that entity, then they get an edge in regards to which currency is the most important nationwide. We want to make sure that the U.S. dollar is the currency that is preferred in all trades internationally,” Rounds said.

Rounds believes this is just the start of cryptocurrency and blockchains and says talks will continue to help pass legislation in this field.
