Currencies

All Zenless Zone Zero currencies, explained

In the free-to-play space, keeping up with all of the currencies can be confusing, and Zenless Zone Zero is no different. There are a bunch of Zenless Zone Zero currencies to keep track of, and when used correctly, some of them grant awesome agents for your party like Ellen Joe and Von Lycaon.

What are Dennies in Zenless Zone Zero?

Here are all of the Zenless Zone Zero currencies to be aware of:

  • Dennies
  • Encrypted Master Tape
  • Master Tape
  • Polychromes
  • W-Engine Energy Modules
  • Gear Coins
  • Plating Agents
  • Residual Signals

Let’s start with the most common: Dennies. This basic currency helps upgrade your characters and weapons’ levels. They’ll also let you buy items in the game like coffee, which gives you a buff in obtaining certain materials. If you’ve played Genshin Impact, Dennies are basically Mora. You can earn Dennies by completing missions and finishing tasks in the Primer, among other activities.

Gear Coins are gathered while you’re on Hollow Exploration missions. They’ll give you access to locked doors, which provide bonuses behind them.

Polychromes are rewards for finishing missions, reaching milestones, finishing achievements, and more. They can be redeemed to create Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes for pulls. They can also be used to increase your level for the battle pass (New Eridu City Funds) and bring back Battery Charge. They’re basically like Primogems from Genshin Impact.

Residual Signals give agents and Master Tapes.

What do Master Tapes and Residual Signals give you?

Master Tapes and Encrypted Master Tapes are used to pull for agents (characters) and W-Engines, which upgrade your character’s stats. Master Tapes are for the non-event characters, known as the Stable Channel. The Exclusive Channel uses Encrypted Master Tapes, which provide limited-time characters like Ellen Joe. The latter are, therefore, the more valuable. You can get Master Tapes by redeeming Polychromes and checking in daily.

Another currency to keep an eye on is Plating Agents. They’re used to upgrade your disc drives and help enhance your agents in battle. They’re gained by finishing VR device battles, dismantling disc drives, and during combat simulations.

To improve your agents even further, W-Engine Energy Modules can work a treat. They’re used to improve W-Engines and increase their effectiveness like their Base Attack stat. You’ll get these by finishing missions, completing Combat Simulations and redeeming them at the Residual Energy Exchange.

Lastly, Residual Signals are gathered from your agent pulls. They’re used to unlock characters, Encrypted Master Tapes, and regular Master Tapes in the shop.
