Ats Nabs Two With Fake Currency Notes | Varanasi News


Varanasi: The UP ATS nabbed two members of a gang involved in circulating counterfeit Indian currency notes procured from Bangladesh, in Varanasi on Tuesday. The ATS personnel also recovered fake notes worth Rs. 45,000 from them.According to reports, the ATS was working on an intelligence input about links of some criminals with a West Bengal gang involved in smuggling of fake Indian currency notes that are procured from Bangladesh. These smuggled fake currencies are circulated in different districts of Uttar Pradesh.Acting on a tip-off, ATS personnel nabbed two persons– Vipin Gupta alias Avnish and Ankur Maurya, both residents of Ambedkar Nagar district, along with a consignment of fake notes. The accused confessed that they got the fake currencies from their gang members in Farakka (WB) and brought them to Varanasi for circulation. The two have several cases pending against at Tanda Kotwali police station of Ambedkar Nagar district under sections 147, 323, 325, 504, 506 and 308 of IPC.
