Call for increased use of national currencies in trade between Belarus, Russia’s Leningrad Oblast
MINSK, 24 June (BelTA) – It is important we increase use of the national currencies in mutual settlements, Belarusian First Deputy Prime Minister Nikolai Snopkov said at a meeting of the joint commission for cooperation between Belarus and Leningrad Oblast, BelTA has learned.
“We agreed that starting next year we will draft contracts and set prices according to the formula in Russian rubles, fix it in Russian rubles and trade in this currency all year around. Just as Leningrad Oblast was the first to test subsidies, it will be the first to do this experiment,” Nikolai Snopkov said.
“One of the main areas of cooperation is farm machines. It should be noted that systemic work has been built in terms of the supply of Belarusian equipment, which we appreciate very much. In addition, Leningrad Oblast was the first to start subsidizing the purchases of Belarusian equipment which enjoys completely the same conditions as Russian equipment in the context of standard price,” Nikolai Snopkov said.
