China has risen to become the second most powerful country, characterised by strong developments in technology, especially in the area of artificial intelligence, with Russia trailing closely, using its rich natural resources and military capabilities to enhance its global position.

Methodology: As mentioned by Forbes, the ranking methodology was devised by the BAV Group, a division of the global marketing firm WPP, in collaboration with researchers led by Professor David Reibstein from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, with support from US News and World Report.

Where does India stand?

One of the most populated countries, the fifth largest in terms of the global economy with strong political influence and noteworthy global partnerships and military capabilities, India missed the spot in the top 10 rankings this year.

Trailing behind the United Arab Emirates (UAE), India presently stands in 12th position among the world’s most powerful nations in 2025, with its GDP estimated at $3.55 trillion and a population of 1.43 billion.
