According to a report from Yahoo Finance, shares of cloud communications provider Bandwidth fell sharply in afternoon trading. The decline occurred as part of a broader retreat impacting software infrastructure stocks, including other companies such as Palantir, Salesforce, and ServiceNow.

The sector-wide repricing was attributed to potential shifts in enterprise spending on artificial intelligence and general valuation fatigue within the high-growth software market. This environment prompted a widespread sell-off across the industry, affecting numerous stocks irrespective of their individual performance.

Bandwidth’s stock is known for its volatility, having experienced numerous significant price movements over the past year. In this context, the day’s decline suggests the market viewed the sector news as meaningful but not as an event that would fundamentally alter the perception of the company’s business.

The previous notable price movement for the stock occurred approximately two and a half weeks prior, when it rose following comments from the current President of the United States regarding talks with Iran. Those remarks sparked a broad market rally that lifted major indices and a large majority of stocks.

Despite the recent decline, Bandwidth’s share price remains higher since the start of the calendar year. However, the current price is below its peak from the previous September. A long-term investment in the company made five years ago would have significantly decreased in value.
