India’s equity markets would look to end the week on a high as earnings season draws to a close and expiry-related volatility is out of the way, even as global markets remain nervous. A sharp sell-off on Wall Street on Wednesday night, coupled with the weekly options expiry of the Nifty 50 contracts, meant that the Nifty ended in the red on Thursday. The positive though, is the fact that the bulls managed to defend levels of 24,500 on the downside, making it a strong support and an important level to watch for the index. Wall Street had a nervous session overnight as benchmark indices gave up gains in the final 30 minutes of trade to end absolutely flat. Bond yields continue to remain elevated despite the marginal cool off. Earnings reactions continue with Nifty names like ITC, Sun Pharma and Grasim reacting to results, while another constituent, JSW Steel, reporting results today. Also watch out for names like MTAR Tech, GMR Airports, Ola Electric, IndusInd Bank, as they also react to their respective newsflow. Watch this space for all the live updates.
