The first rate cut is likely to come in June 2024. The decline in the 10-year yield to 4.02% is positive since it will restrain FPI outflows. The 50 indices witnessed a gap-up opening to mark a consecutive higher high amidst the pullback rally. However, it succumbed to selling pressure immediately, facing rejection again from the polarity zone near 21780 and traded with a negative bias after failing to sustain above its 20DMA. It pared 290 points from the day’s high following a sharp sell-off in the closing hour on above-average volume. The VIX spiked 2.7% ahead of the budget day. The index has immediate support near 21450; failing to hold this level on a closing basis will invite further selling pressure.
