Stock Market on Sept. 26, 2025: Dow, S&P 500, tech-heavy Nasdaq end higher as investors weigh PCE inflation report; U.S. stocks book weekly losses


U.S. stocks closed higher Friday, snapping three straight days of declines as investors parsed a reading on inflation from the Federal Reserve’s preferred gauge that was in line with Wall Street’s expectations.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 299.97 points on Friday, or 0.7%, to end at 46,247.29.

The S&P 500 gained 38.98 points, or 0.6%, to close at 6,643.70.

The Nasdaq Composite climbed 99.37 points, or 0.4%, to finish at 22,484.07.

All three U.S. equities benchmarks booked weekly declines, taking a breather after notching record peaks on Monday. The S&P 500 snapped three straight weeks of gains as interest rates in the bond market rose.

For the week, the S&P 500 shed 0.3%, the Dow slipped 0.1% and the technology-heavy Nasdaq Composite retreated 0.7%, according to Dow Jones Market Data. The 10-year Treasury yield saw a weekly increase of 4.7 basis points to end Friday at 4.185%, the highest rate since Sept. 3 based on levels at 3 p.m. Eastern time.
