A new house price report by Cardinal Steels and Online Marketing Surgery ranked the boroughs in Greater Manchester based on their average house price, revealing the cheapest and most expensive place to live in the county – Bolton has one of the lowest prices.
The recent data around the average house price in each area of the UK was taken from the House Price Index from the Office for National Statistics.
According to figures, Bolton has the second cheapest house prices in Greater Manchester, at £185,453 on average.
This is a 2.8 per cent reduction compared to last year’s figures of £190,838.
Wigan is the most budget-friendly area in Greater Manchester to buy a house, boasting an average house price of £184,366.
This reflects a decrease from the previous November’s average of £188,236.
The area with the highest average house prices is Trafford with their average price being £366,031.
Andrew Cardwell, managing director at Cardwells Estate Agents said: “The results of this investigation further emphasises what we already know, that property in Bolton offers wonderful value for money, not just when compared to national prices, but also when compared to our neighbours in Greater Manchester.
“There is such an eclectic mix of property in our town that there really is something for everyone, no matter what the budget.
“Whilst the communities in our town are friendly and welcoming, it’s no surprise that people are actively looking to move to Bolton, and so many of choose to raise families here.
“All of us have been affected by the high inflation levels and the cost-of-living challenges during the last year or two, so it’s welcoming that this study has found Bolton to offer excellent levels of affordability, and in turn value for money.
“There are so many great benefits of living here, including the wonderful array of facilities which are free, such as the beautiful countryside that is on our doorstep ready to be explored, fantastic transport facilities via both road and railway and of course there are some wonderful sports and social clubs, an array of shopping and leisure facilities, and restaurants to enjoy.
“When you consider all that Bolton has to offer and the value for money in the property market, it is no wonder that properties continue to be so popular.”
