Declan Donnelly has reportedly splashed a massive amount of money to fix up the house next door to his London mansion.

The I’m A Celebrity star, 48, lives with his family in a luxury property in Chiswick, with the family home boasting a cinema and swimming pool – with a price tag of £7 million.

Now the TV presenter has dropped another £2.25 million on the house next door to his, which had fallen into disrepair and was becoming an ‘eyesore’ in the community.

It’s understood the house had been converted into flats, and has now been bought by Dec and his wife Ali Astall, 45, who have applied for planning permission to add a side and rear extension.

A source told The Sun that the property on Dec’s ‘swanky’ road had ‘become a bit of an eyesore’ and the presenter decided to act.

‘Most people would have to live with seeing it go to rack and ruin but Dec has taken the initiative and snapped it up when it came on the market.’

They said that if the property is anything like Dec’s own home when the renovations are finished, ‘it’ll be a terrific investment,’ adding that Dec’s home is one of the most ‘impressive mansions’ on the street.

It’s unclear what Dec’s plans are for the property once renovations are complete.

The star lives in the area with his wife Ali and their two children: daughter Isla, five, and son Jack, one.

The family joined Dec in Australia in November as he jetted over for the latest season of I’m A Celeb, with the parents seen puckering up during a family day out in the sunshine.

This year’s I’m A Celeb was won by Sam Thompson, who beat out the likes of Nigel Farage, Fred Sirieix and Josie Gibson for the title of King of the Jungle.

Viewing figures dipped on the 2023 series as some called for a boycott in protest to ex politician Farage taking part in the show.

And the 2022 series saw former Health Secretary Matt Hancock make it to the final three.

But if it’s up to Ant and Dec, there will soon be a year without any politicians involved.

Asked by the Mail Online about the Prime Minister Rishi Sunak taking part in an upcoming season,  Dec said: ‘I think we do a year without any politicians.’

To which Ant replied: ‘Agreed, agreed, agreed.’

Dec Donnelly has been contacted for comment.
