Ellen DeGeneres’ £22m UK home up for sale after insisting she’s ‘staying’ | Celebrity News | Showbiz & TV

Ellen DeGeneres has put her UK farmhouse up for sale just days after insisting she’s “staying for good”. She and her wife Portia de Rossi moved to $30million farmhouse in the Cotswolds, close to the likes of Jeremy Clarkson and Elizabeth Hurley, but are now selling up after deciding to move to a larger property.

Hollywood star Ellen told fans at a show held at Cheltenham’s Everyman Theatre: “We decided we needed a different house, and now we are selling that house. So if anyone wants a house, it’s a beautiful stone farmhouse.” The sprawling estate lies on 43 acres of land and features six bedrooms, four bathrooms and its own guest cottage.

Ellen’s home also boasted a gym, private offices and its own bar, and is located in Asthall, West Oxfordshire. That’s the same village where Jeremy Clarkson’s pub The Farmer’s Dog is located – meaning the pair are practically neighbours.

It comes after Ellen confirmed she is “staying” in the UK for good after fleeing America when Donald Trump was elected for a second term as president.

The 67-year-old said: “We got here the day before the election and woke up to lots of texts from our friends with crying emojis, and I was like, ‘He got in’. And we’re like, ‘We’re staying here’.

“The idea was that we would be here for three or four months of the year – but always when we came here we loved it and we thought it was beautiful.”

Ellen went on: “[The UK is] absolutely beautiful. We’re just not used to seeing this kind of beauty. The villages and the towns and the architecture – everything you see is charming and it’s just a simpler way of life. It’s clean. Everything here is just better – the way animals are treated, people are polite. I just love it here.

“The Baptist Church in America is trying to reverse gay marriage. They’re trying to literally stop it from happening in the future and possibly reverse it. Portia and I are already looking into it, and if they do that, we’re going to get married here.”
