The new community centre, part of the £7m regeneration of Ham Close, will be called The Hive. The name was chosen with the involvement of the local community.
Over 1,200 people voted, with a large proportion being young people who go to school in Ham, as well as those who run and attend groups that support the local community and residents. The Hive was shortlisted by members and young people from Ham Youth Club from a longlist created by young people and community groups in Ham. They felt it perfectly captures the purpose of the building – a community space where people come together to collaborate and serve their community.
In second place was The Cube and in third, Ham Junction.
Richmond Council are excited for The Hive to become a central hub for all residents and groups in Ham.
