Peter Townshend leaves legacy for next generation

The University of West London (UWL) has opened the Townshend Studio, an exciting new space for creative learning, collaboration, and experimentation.

Pete Townshend, co-founder and guitarist of the Who donated many iconic synthesizers and instruments to the project.

Speaking at the launch October 10 2024, Pete Townshend was interviewed by Will Hodgkinson of the Times and Mojo magazine. Pete spoke of his time at Ealing Art College (now UWL) and the creative influence of Roy Ascot.

He emphasized the crucial role of providing space for creativity, igniting inspiration, and the significance of cybernetic and telematic art that Ascot termed technoetics.

Pete Townshend exhibited all the energy and challenge of his youth and music in an entertaining discussion that left the audience in awe at the intellectual scope of his life.

West London, with its rich history of the creative industries, proudly remains a leading region for the future, bolstered by the availability of space and the generous donations by superstars of the sixties.
