In a new interview with outlet Eurogamer, ID@Xbox boss Chris Charla says that Microsoft has made its “largest investment in Game Pass to date” in 2025 so far.

Further elaborating on the point that this has been a big year for Game Pass, Charla added that Xbox has “signed deals with more than 150 partners to expand the catalogue” and that the team “remains focused on delivering the most exciting and diverse catalogue in gaming”.

Here’s a bigger chunk of that conversation:

“The majority of partners who’ve had a game in Game Pass want to bring their future titles to the service […] As a result, we’ve signed deals with more than 150 partners to expand the catalogue. We continue to engage with hundreds of partners each year to review upcoming titles.”

“Last year, we worked with over 50 teams to sign their first Game Pass deal. This year marks our largest investment in Game Pass to date, and we remain focused on delivering the most exciting and diverse catalogue in gaming.”

It appears that these comments relate to third-party Game Pass deals, especially given that Charla heads up Microsoft’s ID@Xbox team; the folks responsible for bringing independently published titles to the platform. It stands to reason that this has been a big year for first-party investment as well though, given the sheer size and scale of games that Microsoft is publishing on Game Pass in 2025.

Despite recent comments and controversies about the viability of Xbox Game Pass in the current market, we’re happy to hear of this continued investment from Microsoft. Gaming is getting expensive, and as long as the service remains a great one for consumers, we’ll continue to be on board with it being a core pillar of the Xbox business.
