The Board of Commissioners recently adopted a resolution approving Onslow County’s 2025-2030 Strategic Plan. In the plan five strategic focus areas were identified as well as objectives and measures for each of those categories, per a release.

- Community Vitality
- Focused and Sustainable Future
- Healthy and Safe Community
Over the past year staff met with community stakeholders, received surveys from over 1,200 citizens, and viewed over 100 comments from an online ideas wall. With this input and direction from the Board of Commissioners the strategic focus areas and goals for how to achieve success in those areas were developed, per a release.
County Manager David Smitherman says this plan charts a course for success.
The focus areas provide a roadmap of where we believe our investments must go over the next five years to meet our Strategic Plan. If we stick to the plan and fund it appropriately, we will change this community for the better. It will make a demonstrable difference in the quality of life in our community.
