PLYMOUTH – A groundbreaking ceremony for a winter recreation park that has been closed for more than a decade will be held mid-June.
The ceremony at noon June 19 at Nutt Hill, 750 W. Main St., will kick off forthcoming upgrades before it opens for the winter 2025 season.
The park will undergo nearly $2.3 million in investments from Cheese Capital Winter Park, introducing a new vision along with new buildings, snow-making and grooming equipment, and a conveyor system bringing people to the top of the hill.
Nutt Hill, which has been closed since 2014, will feature six tubing lanes and three ski runs. Snowboarding is also welcome.
CCWP has raised 90% of its capital campaign goal, supported by individual and organizational donations across Sheboygan County, including Sargento Foods, Masters Gallery Foods and Sartori Cheese.
The nonprofit already embarked on building an enclosed warming shelter, working with the Plymouth High School technology department.
The Plymouth City Council approved a five-year license agreement with the nonprofit organization last fall. The city will provide an annual payment of $11,000 to CCWP, comparable to the city’s operational costs before the park closed.
Plymouth will maintain park ownership, but CCWP will be responsible for operations.
