RDDC showcases transformative downtown projects with new homes and business spaces

Rochester, N.Y. — A local organization is showcasing the upcoming investments in the heart of Rochester.
The Rochester Downtown Development Corporation hosted its “Downtown Rising” luncheon Tuesday at The Penthouse at One East Avenue, which highlighted efforts to support new businesses and homes in the city’s center.
Over 10,000 individuals call downtown Rochester home, with more coming soon as over 1,000 units are currently being built or converted to residential.
The summit gathered community members together to explore visions of how to shape downtown Rochester to become a more vibrant and inclusive neighborhood.
- Hotel Cadillac: Currently being renovated into the Fine Arts Lofts, which will feature mixed-use housing and commercial real estate targeted for start-up companies
- 222 South: Previously a marble factory, now being turned into residences
- Neisner at East End: Newly renovated apartments targeted for young professionals
- The Metropolitan: Formally known as Chase Tower
“Downtown Rochester is our cultural and transportation hub,” said Galin Brooks, the president and CEO of RDDC. “It’s really where everything comes together, so we know that people want to be here and these projects help give them the options that they need to be able to call downtown Rochester home.”
