Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy led “TelanganaRising” delegation at the World Economic Forum (WEF) summit in Switzerland’s Davos secured 20 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) for investments and expansions worth Rs 1.79 lakh crore for the state.
The agreements, which focus on data centres, green energy, and cutting-edge technologies, are expected to generate nearly 50,000 jobs in the state.
“The TelanganaRising delegation, led by CM Reddy, concluded its highly successful Davos trip on Thursday with a total investment of Rs 1,78,950 crore, which will create 49,550 jobs,” a press release from the Chief Minister’s Office stated.
Key investments include Amazon AWS committing Rs 60,000 crore for a data centre, Sun Petrochemicals with Rs 45,500 crore, Tillman Global Holdings with Rs 15,000 crore, and Megha Engineering with Rs 15,000 crore.
Software giants Infosys, HCL, and Wipro also announced expansions in Hyderabad, promising 17,000, 5,000, and 5,000 jobs, respectively.
“Building on core strengths of Hyderabad and Telangana in software and pharma, Telangana will now look to grow in a very big way in data centres, green energy, food processing, electric vehicles, semiconductors, among others,” CM Reddy explained at various fora in WEF.
Data centres were a focal point of the delegation’s efforts, with Amazon, Tillman, and Ctrls announcing significant new facilities and expansions.
Other major successes included investments in solar cells, rocket manufacturing, aircraft interiors, and UAV production.
Jindal’s foray into the defence sector was another notable achievement.
CM Reddy said that the vision of making Telangana a $1 trillion SDGP economy would involve aggressive clustering – core urban area inside ORR (Outer Ring Road at Hyderabad) for services, zone between ORR and the proposed Regional Ring Road as semi-urban zone for manufacturing, and outside the RRR as rural area for agri and food processing.
Reddy highlighted infrastructure and sustainability projects such as Metro Rail expansion, Regional Ring Railway, Musi River rejuvenation, and Electric Vehicle promotion.
“The world, post-Covid and its deep consequences on supply chains, urgently needs a supplementing alternative to China (China Plus One), a position Telangana would aggressively and proactively like to take,” he emphasised.
