What renewables in energy production mean for investments

The percentage of energy in the UK from renewables has grown significantly over the past 10 years from 10.7 per cent in 2014 to 36.1 per cent in 2023.

Projections for 2024 estimate renewables coming in between 37 per cent and 43 per cent.

But the cost benefits have not fed through to lower consumer bills. Why?

There has been a major shift towards a lower carbon electricity system in the past decade when fossil fuels generated most of the country’s energy.

In fact, since 2023, renewables have been the largest source of energy production in the UK.
