Two of the best new hotels in the U.S. are just a short drive from Michigan.
USA Today released its list of the 10 best new hotels in January. A panel of travel experts nominated their top picks for hotel openings and hotels that were transformed by major renovations over the last year and a half, then readers voted for the winners.
Michigan didn’t have any hotels on the list, but both Chicago and Wisconsin did. L7 CHICAGO BY LOTTE came in at No. 9.
“Cool, innovative hotel in the middle of Chicago with impressive views and proximity to landmarks like the Magnificent Mile, Millennium Park, the Art Institute of Chicago, and Navy Pier,” USA Today wrote. “The hotel is also home to PERILLA, the Korean-American steakhouse, and its newly renovated rooms offer contemporary furnishings and a variety of tech-savvy extras.”
Hotel Verdant in Racine, Wisconsin is No. 4 on the list. Racine is south of Milwaukee, where the Lake Express Ferry arrives from Muskegon.
It “offers a peaceful and serene retreat in the center of Monument Square in Racine, Wisconsin,” USA Today wrote. “This eco-friendly property boasts comfortable, well-appointed rooms with stylish accents featuring sustainable materials, as well as a farm-to-fork restaurant and incredible views from their rooftop cocktail lounge.”
Other states with hotels on the list included Hawaii, Maine, California, Tennessee, Connecticut, Florida, North Carolina and New Jersey.
