Taylor Swift fans are debating where the pop star might be staying while visiting Australia, but a look at her $230m (US$150m) real estate empire of eight properties in the USA gives an idea of the kind of lifestyle she is accustomed to.
And many of the glamourous homes may even have partly inspired some of her music.
Fans would be familiar with the 1989 album’s song ‘Welcome to New York’, which paid homage to her move to and living in the big apple.
According to reports, 10 years ago now in 2014, Swift purchased two adjacent penthouses in an old TriBeCa building at 155 Franklin St and converted the home into a 10 bedroom, 10 bathroom mega loft.
In early 2018, reports show the 12-time Grammy winner paid $15m (US$9.75M) for an additional three-bedroom 325 square metre loft on the second floor of the same TriBeCa building.
Swift reportedly also purchased the century-old townhouse right next door estimated at $27.75m million.
Before expanding her Franklin St residences, the lyric “I rent a place on Cornelia St” rang true, as Swift rented an 1870 brick town house between 2016 and 2017 at 23 Cornelia St while the Tribeca Penthouse was being renovated.
It has an estimated property value of $17.5m, according to realtor.com.
Before moving to New York, to kick start her career, Swift convinced her parents at only 14 to move to Nashville.
The pop stars first property was purchased in Nashville at age 20, in the centre of Nashville’s Music Row for $3m, according to TopTenRealEstateDeals.
She also reportedly purchased her parents a home, a Nashville mansion on almost six acres for $2.16m that she still owns.
With her singing career growing rapidly and the need to spend more time in Los Angeles, Swift has owned a total of three homes in Los Angeles.
She purchased a Cape Cod-style home in Beverly Hills in 2011 for a reported $6.12m that she sold a few years later.
Her Beverly Hills mansion purchased in 2015 was previously owned by Samuel Goldwyn, renowned film producer.
In 2013, Swift purchased the Rhode Island property that her song ‘The Last Great American Dynasty” is based on, an epic $27.35m beach mansion, that was once owned by composer and philanthropist Rebekah West Harkness – which she reference in her lyrics.
