Who Is Joseph Neumeyer? US-German Citizen Arrested For US Embassy Firebomb Plot In Tel Aviv

Authorities say Neumeyer traveled to Israel in April. On May 19, he allegedly approached the US Embassy in Tel Aviv carrying a backpack, spat on an embassy guard without provocation, and fled as the guard tried to detain him. He left his backpack behind during the encounter. Inside the backpack, investigators found three Molotov cocktails.
Israeli police later located Neumeyer at his hotel and arrested him. During the investigation, officials discovered disturbing social media activity in which Neumeyer allegedly called for violence, writing, “join me as I burn down the embassy in Tel Aviv. Death to America, death to Americans, and f*** the West.” He also reportedly posted threats directed at President Trump.
Neumeyer, who holds dual US and German citizenship, was deported from Israel and arrived in the US on Sunday, where he was immediately arrested. He now faces federal charges of attempting to destroy US government property with fire or explosives. If convicted, Neumeyer could face up to 20 years in prison.
Bondi, Patel React To Neumeyer’s Arrest
Attorney General Pamela Bondi said in a statement, “This defendant is charged with planning a devastating attack targeting our embassy in Israel, threatening death to Americans, and President Trump’s life. The Department will not tolerate such violence and will prosecute this defendant to the fullest extent of the law.”
FBI Director Kash Patel added, “Neumayer’s alleged actions were despicable and violent. These acts of terror will not be tolerated at home or abroad.”
