Police responded alongside firefighters following a fire at a property in James Street, Carlisle yesterday, May 13.
Cumbria Police officers were alerted to the incident at 2.21pm.
A man, in his twenties, was found dead at the scene by firefighters, police said.
Joint enquiries are underway involving police and the fire service. There are no suspicious circumstances at this time, police added.
Fire and rescue services went to the scene at what they described as a ‘commercial building’ just before 2pm yesterday.
“Crews from Carlisle East, Carlisle West, and Longtown fire stations have attended, with other emergency services also responding to the incident,” Cumbria Fire and Rescue said yesterday.
“We would like to thank the public for following emergency services’ advice and avoiding the area while crews dealt with this incident.”
