Dorset Police officer PC Ash attended court today where a Partial Closure Order was granted on an address in Gillingham, after prolonged antisocial behaviour has took place.
The address was linked to numerous local drug users who decided to create various issues in the area and have had a negative impact on those around them.
Officers have been working with Sovereign Network Group and Dorset Council and hope the notice will have a positive impact on the community in the area.
A spokesperson for Dorset Police said: “This order means that only the tenant, SNG and emergency services can be in this address for the next three months, this will hopefully give some respite to the residents in the area who have had to deal with persistent ASB from the address mainly linked to drugs. The order has a power of arrest attached to it, and we can report individuals who breach the notice and send them straight to court.
“This a brilliant tool we have and can use, it is something we are looking to implement across the local area targeting individuals who are consistently causing ASB that is more often than not linked to drug use and drug dealing.
“We will be hoping to use these types of orders across various other addresses we have the same issue with across Gillingham and North Dorset. Keep an eye out for updates in relation to these.”
