Property return begins following Bedford train crash

British Transport Police have been searching the trains involved in the Bedford collision on the 19th June.

Numerous pieces of passenger property have been collected and moved to a secure East Midlands Railway storage facility.

The property collected is now ready to be returned to passengers, and searches will continue until all items have been returned.

BTP is combining the return with speaking to those on board, ensuring they have spoken to all on board as part of the ongoing investigation.

Those wanting to collect items should contact BTP on 61016, or call 0800 40 50 40, using the reference 668 of 20 June.

Information will need to be provided to ensure items are returned correctly, including:

  • Their name, telephone number and email address
  • Which train they were on
  • The carriage they were in
  • A thorough description of item(s) left, including any distinctive features, or if they left a bag what was inside it

Passengers will then be contacted when an item has been matched, and BTP will be cross-referencing information and contacting those whom they have yet to speak to.

Passengers can also get in touch with them directly via BTP’s website.
