UAE companies and sovereign wealth funds are expected to announce significant investment in India in the coming months, with a priority on artificial intelligence (AI), logistics, food security and infrastructure.
“Our sovereign wealth funds continue to look actively at the Indian market,” Undersecretary at the UAE Ministry of Investment Mohammad Alhawi told Economic Times, an Indian financial daily.
UAE companies are also looking very seriously at India, he added.
UAE has invested almost $26 billion in India between 2000 and 2026, accounting for almost 70% of all Gulf investments into India.
“We don’t see this slowing down. On the contrary, we expect exponential growth over the coming years,” Alhawi said.
Bilateral trade has surpassed $100 billion, with the governments now targeting $200 billion by 2032.
Alhawi said UAE’s sovereign wealth funds will continue to play a bigger role in India’s growth story, citing the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority’s commitment to explore up to $1 billion in investment with the National Investment and Infrastructure Fund.
The official said a number of Indian companies are planning to visit the UAE to begin investment discussions.
Alhawi said that the fundamentals of the UAE economy remain strong, encouraging long-term capital flows, the report said.
