An eye-catching house that’s up for sale in south Manchester for £1,444,000 has been named one of the most-viewed properties on Rightmove so far this year.

With summer underway, the UK’s biggest property site has revisited the homes that have garnered the most clicks from househunters in the first half of 2026.

From a £250,000 cliff-top cottage to a £20 million Gothic mansion, Rightmove’s most-viewed homes to date span every corner of the market.

While they vary hugely in price, they each have their own standout, unusual features that make them hard to scroll past.

Amongst the mega homes catching people’s eyes is this grand red-brick Victoria villa that’s up for grabs in Whalley Range.

The eclectic period property was first listed for sale back in January 2025 at £1.95 million, and then in October 2025 it was reduced down to £1.6 million.

In January this year, its price was then knocked further down to £1.4 million and it has remained on the market at this value since.

Set on Alexandra Road South just 10 minutes away from the city centre, the house spans nearly 5,000 sq ft of living space, blending restored Victorian character with some quirky touches.

Built in 1885, it has been tastefully renovated over the past decade with a variety of rooms spread across four floors.

The grand house has eight large bedrooms, many which have their own private en-suites, with six bathrooms in total.

The property boasts luxury features such as a cinema room below ground, a stunning sun room overlooking the garden and a private hot tub terrace.

The top-floor bedroom steals the show with its boutique hotel-style interior, walk-in dressing room and its own in-room roll-top bathtub.

Through a Victorian garden wall, there is also a fully self-contained coach house for guests. Detached from the main house, it comes complete with a kitchen, shower room and mezzanine sleeping area above.

Beautiful gardens surround the home on all sides and are separated into sections with different seating areas and lawns.

Estate agents Jamie Burke who is marketing the property says: “Introducing number 31 Alexandra Road South – a grand and prestigious Victorian red-brick villa situated in the heart of south Manchester.

“Boasting almost 5,000 square foot of internal living space, the main residence has no less than seven bedrooms and a series of impeccably designed reception rooms arranged across four floors.

“Many of the bedrooms also benefit from private en-suite bathrooms, each individually designed to accompany the style and character of the accompanying bedroom.

“Built in 1885, the house sits amongst a number of grand Victorian villas built around Alexandra Park. This house has undergone an extensive restoration programme over the past 10 years by its current owner, who has respected the Victorian sensibilities of the building whilst introducing a rich colour and material palette.”
