Amanda Metcalfe takes over from Karen McElhatton as chair of the group housing services committee (GHSC) and Justin Brown joins the board, having been a member of Hyde’s group investment committee since 2023.

Hyde said Ms Metcalfe is a “highly experienced” senior marketing professional, specialising in property and commercial real estate.

Most recently, she was marketing director at Canary Wharf Group.

Ms Metcalfe is also a trustee of the Army Benevolent Fund and was a non-executive director at Clarion Housing Group, where she was a member of the remuneration committee.

Mr Brown is a real estate specialist, who also serves on the boards of real estate investment companies in Finland, Sweden and the UK. He is a director of a company investing in student accommodation in Leicester.

His most recent executive role was as head of Europe real estate for BlackRock, where he was previously portfolio manager of the BlackRock UK Property Fund.

He also worked at UBS and LaSalle Investment Management.

Ms Metcalfe described Hyde is a “forward-thinking organisation with a clear social purpose and ambition to provide homes and serve communities that people can be proud of”.

She said: “Hyde has a genuine commitment to being customer-driven, as shown by the fact we have three board members who are also customers. As chair of GHSC, I want to further strengthen the connection between our customer board, customer voice, and our operational teams.

“We want to work with customers to improve our services and make sure we keep them safe in their homes and help them build strong and thriving communities.”

Mr Brown said: “I’m delighted to be joining the group board, deepening my association with Hyde that began in September 2023.

“Since joining, I’ve been struck by the professionalism, clarity and creativity of Hyde in addressing the challenges in the sector, such as delivering much-needed new housing across the country.

“This has involved working with long-term capital partners attracted by Hyde’s skill and experience in delivering and managing people’s most important physical asset – their home.

“I’m looking forward to bringing my experience of managing investment teams and property on behalf of institutional investors. I want to help the team recognise some of the key drivers motivating existing and future partners of the group to continue Hyde’s success.”

Earlier this year, Hyde finalised its acquisition of Arhag Housing Association.
