Analysis by property data company Brickview found annualised house price growth in the LD postcode area reached 3.5 per cent over the last 10 years, compared with 2.2 per cent across England and Wales.
The figures cover postcode districts LD1 to LD8, including communities around Llandrindod Wells, Builth Wells, Brecon, Rhayader, Presteigne and Knighton.
Brickview estimated the average property price in the area at £276,513 for the 12 months to Friday, July 31, 2026.
Although that remains below the England and Wales average of £354,544, the report suggests local earnings have struggled to keep pace with rising house values.
The analysis found the LD area’s price-to-income ratio increased from 7.6 in 2016 to 8.3 in 2026, while net household income was estimated at £31,929. The figures indicate that buying a home has become less affordable for local households over the period.
Official data paints a similar picture of a strengthening housing market in Powys. The UK House Price Index recorded an average property price of £237,762 in Powys in July 2026, up 3.8 per cent from a year earlier, while the Wales-wide average stood at £215,037.
