De La Rue meets Governor of Central Bank of Libya in DC to follow up on its currency printing plan


On the sidelines of the Spring Meetings of the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank (13-18 April) held in Washington, D.C., Naji Issa, Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, and his accompanying delegation met last Friday (17 April), with Clive Vacher, CEO of the British company De La Rue, in the presence of Damian Kwiatowski, Assistant CEO for International Sales to Central Banks.

The meeting was held to follow up on the implementation of the Central Bank of Libya’s plan to print the new banknote denominations (5, 10, and 20 Libyan dinars) and to discuss the delivery schedule for the shipments as agreed upon by both parties. This aims to ensure a smooth supply of local currency to meet Libyan citizens’ needs and guarantee its ample availability before Eid al-Adha (Feast of Sacrifice) at the end of May this year.

At the conclusion of the meeting, De La Rue presented the Governor with the High Security Printing EMEA International Forum Award for selecting the twenty-dinar edition, after this category won the award for the most beautiful currency design in the world for 2025, in terms of shape, printing quality, and level of protection and security.
